Manic Monday Breakfast Show

share close

10Radio’s first breakfast show of the week with Eddie Gaines and Robin Vanags.  Listen in as they muse on what happened over the weekend – life, other worldly places, what’s on in the area and other important stuff – such as travel problems. They might even remember to tell you the time so you’re not late for school, work or girlfriend –  but don’t bank on it. During the programme Robin Vanags may take you through “what happened on this day – births, deaths and other major and minor events in history. All are joined (as ever) by their faithful companion Shep the Otter who is always threatening to take over the mixing desk when the serious talk gets too serious!

All the latest news (provided by BBC Somerset) is read by Robin on the half hour.

Also, Eddie will give a brief overview of the weekend’s football results in particular how well the teams in the south West are doing (and his beloved Tottenham Hotspur) about 8:10 am and listen to the Manic Monday weekly competition from 8.10 am where if you know which year the tracks played were “significant” hits you too could win a virtual prize

Eddie Gaines

Eddie Gaines - Eddie has been a presenter with 10Radio right from day one in 2005 bringing a flair and intimate knowledge of contemporary music going way,way back - you could say he is 10Radio’s archivist and musical archaeologist - you name it he has a story about it. Still smarting from encouraging all his college friends to get tickets for David Bowie due to play at Plymouths Guildhall only to find he sent someone called Ziggy to play in his place…….he never forgave him and instead became a fan of German prog rock ban Can who did turn up and played as arranged.

Robin Vanags

Robin Vanags - Apart from looking after news & weather in Eddie’s show, I help provide diverse regular features – amongst these, we’ve revisited WW1 battlefields - 100 years on, brought 10Radio listeners recent reporting on scam-warnings and money-saving, recalled the voices of Exmoor, and moved through the seasons with Ted Hughes’poetry.
