Wellington School Project – The Lion Talks Today

The Lion Talks Today was the title of a programme recently broadcast on 10Radio produced and presented by students from Wellington School as part of their Citizenship curriculum. Fourteen students from countries as far and wide as Mexico and Bermuda were involved in putting together a programme which consisted of interviews with fellow students and local Wiveliscombe residents, chat and live music and subjects covered were as diverse as the merits of rugby over football and life after death. The idea for the programme was that of Ben Elkins, co-founder of 10Radio and one-time teacher at Kingsmead School. Ben now teaches at Wellington School and helps coordinate the Citizenship programme alongside his roles as House Master and teacher of Religious Studies. The programme that was produced was of incredible quality given that the students had only received one hour’s training in the studio but of course, this was backed up by hours of preparation and follow-up across the 2-week project. And, of course, it was once again a great opportunity for 10Radio to show its true colours as a true community radio station.
