Year 6 pupils from Milverton Community Primary School devoted a whole school day to choosing topics, writing scripts and recording material for their very own radio show in a pop-up studio erected at the school for the purpose.  They also learnt how to operate the technical equipment and spent time designing posters to promote the show.

10Radio’s Barry Somers and Andrew Norris worked alongside Mr Peter Coupe and Mrs Lisa Brierley, teachers at the school, to help prepare for a show which generated features ranging from joke telling through live music to an in depth discussion of the pros and cons of SATS assessments for Key Stage 2 children.

This was the latest in a series of visits and interactions with local schools designed to give children and young people experience of broadcasting and provide training and learning in communication, script writing and technical skills in keeping with 10Radio’s key objectives to make commnity radio accessible to people of all ages and abilities.

These projects have been made possible through the generous support of Co-op’s Community Fund.
