Bringing you up to date with all the local news from The 10Parishes.

This week’s show presented by Pauline Homeshaw & Andrew Norris

Repeats Monday 4pm, Tuesday 10am and Wednesday 5am

1. “L B Loxley’s Wildlfe” This week, LB looks into the world of the most colourful member of the crow family.

2.As January draws to a close, the nation’s fitness reset is already faltering with new research showing many of us are suffering from exercise-induced injuries after throwing ourselves into workouts without proper preparation. In fact, with 34% of us focusing on getting back to exercising in January after a long period out (34%), it’s no surprise that 41% of us are already experiencing pain, soreness or injuries.  The research by The Turmeric Co. shows these early injuries are a major confidence killer, with many people admitting they’re unlikely to return to exercise once hurt turning January motivation into February drop-out. Ed Tooley, a Performance nutritionist, tells us why January injuries derail fitness goals, highlights the nation’s recovery knowledge gap, and how simple, sustainable recovery habits can keep people exercising all year.

3.Angela Valuks is the latest in a line of people who have served as Anna Chaplains in Wiveliscombe.  She explains what that means and how she heads up the team which visits Pulsford Lodge, our local residential home for older people, each month.

4. “L B Loxley’s Wildlife” This week LB takes a trip to the Grand Western canal at Westleigh in search of the wildlife to be  found there. (First broadcast on 7th February 2024)

5.“The Bi-monthly Transition Town Show”  A new series from the Wellington Transition Town Group. Helen Gillingham will be talking to Anita Roy about the origins of the TTW’s ForestGarden at Fox’s Field.  There will also be seasonal tips about what can be done in our gardens and meadows now and events coming up.

6.Jeremy Toye was a journalist with Reuters for much of his professional career and today he talks about some of the stand out moments of that time, particularly in the Middle East.  Jeremy now works with refugee charities, is very much involved in his village of Nynehead and is also a very good tennis player!
