This week:
1. P J Lennon, past presenter on 10Radio, has turned
author and today, on a visit back to Wiveliscombe from his
home in Spain, he talks about his writing style and his
inspiration for the devious and twisting plots in his novels!
2. Exmoor stars in the new Swedish thriller “Unmoored”
with parts of the film shot in Wiveliscombe. Barry and Colin
Summers’ Manor Garage features in this adaptation of the
award winning book. Today, we speak to Mark Ford
Screen Somerset (Somerset Film Office) Lead, Economic
Development, Skills and Climate, Somerset Council who has
managed this project. Mark talks about how this film will
bring visitor spend into the county and introduce people to
this beautiful part of the country.
3. Claire Wilkinson and her horse Fly accompanied by
George, who is a gypsy cob, are setting off this weekend for
a 3 day ride across Exmoor to raise funds and awareness for
the Wiveliscombe Branch of the Royal British Legion. Fly is a
thoroughbred, and ex racehorse that did quite well in his
prime but locals will know him best from when Claire rides
out at Remembrance events in November.
4. Stargazing above Somerset with Harold Mead during
August
5. The next dramatic offering from the Wellington
Operatic Society is entitled ‘All Aboard’ and takes an
amusing look at life on a cruise ship. Written and adapted
from a script by her father, director Nancy Powell-Brace
takes us on the journey and reveals how the production is a
real family affair.
