SSAFA – the Armed Forces Charity is 140 years old today! Brigadier Mike Hodson, Chair of SSAFA Somerset, talks about his pride in being part of such a long standing and effective charity, how the work of volunteers has changed over the years and how help is more needed than ever for our service families and veterans. First broadcast 14th February 2025

“The Man of History”  This month, Mike Menhenitt, Chair of Wellington Museum looks at the Iron Age, the Bronze Age and the Roman period and their effects on   Wellington and the surrounding area.

As the country marks Armed Forces Week, new  research from British Gas reveals a gap between what the public thinks veterans do after service and the reality of where their skills are now in demand.  We speak to Anthony Williams, British Gas engineer who served 12 years in the military about his experience in civilian life and note what skills he and other service people bring to all our lives.

“L B Loxley’s Wildlife” This week LB looks into the life of the delightful slow worm.

Blackdown Acapella is an award winning all female chorus of over 40 local women and today are appearing live on 10Radio!  Not all 40 ladies can squeeze into our studio, but we welcome 8 who will talk about their love of performing together and in their first 5 years have achieved so much.  We shall hear them sing some of their repertoire and enjoy live music on the Community Show.
