1     Taunton’s Brewhouse Theatre has been awarded £527,000 from Arts Council England towards the upgrade of the auditorium and studio lighting, much of which dates back to the opening of the theatre in 1977. Today,   Vickie Robbins Executive Director talks about the great news for our lovely theatre and arts centre.

2    The Somerset Archaeological and Natural History Society has existed since 1849 following discussions among ‘several gentlemen of Taunton and its neighbourhood’. It was one of several such organisations established in the English shires during the 1840’s and reflected the early Victorian growth of interest in county history and the natural environment.  Today, Dr Lizzie Induni, Chair of SANHS, talks about her role, her love of history and why the Society is as important as it has ever been. (First broadcast 4^th April 2025)

3    “Suzie Grogan’s Talking Books”  Today, Suzie chats to Trica Burgess about her new book ‘Two Peas in a Pod’. It describes her life in Spain and her commitment to animal rescue, most particularly abandoned hunting dogs. Looking at the different reactions different countries have to rescue animals, the challenges of writing in English whilst living abroad, and the role of writing, and of animals in the grieving process, it is an interesting discussion.

4         The RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch Results 2026 in Somerset and across the UK are in and today, Morwenna Harris, England Communications Officer talks about the results and also highlights more we can do to protect the birds we so value in our gardens and allotments.

5   Jacqui Budd, Patron of St Giles Animal Centre talks about Bumble, a young cocker spaniel looking for a home. 

6  Eddie updates listeners on progress in the Town Hall now that the ceiling has been entirely refurbished.
