1 Mike Menhennit is Vice Chairman and Public Relations Manager for Wellington Museum and opens our show today with an overview of the Museums creation and recent refurbishment.
2 Transition Town Volunteers Maya, will talk about why TTW work is a great stress buster for her, Steve Saunders who’s been willow weaving on Fox’s Field of late and is also a part of the Basins Volunteer Group and the Green Corridor team and Philip Knowlman, who will speak about what TTW means to him & how it has changed his life. Anita Roy will also mention this years glorious apple juice, on sale now!
3 Wellington Arts Association’s Steph Colman and Jane Burt along with Bridgette Sells talk about the next two exciting shows coming up
4 Steven and Frank are two of the local residents who are part of Protect Wellington, a group whose aim is to stop 250 houses from being built on farmland which is outside any allocated land and close to the famous Wellington Monument. They plan a Day of Action on 12th March when everyone is asked to show their strength of feeling against this provocative planning application
5 Refurbishment Project Leader, John Hamer who also looks after the museum’s technical side and our Chairman, Mark Lithgow talk about the practicalities of working in an existing, historic building to bring it up to today’s standards.
6 Tom Mayberry MBE is one of the guests at today’s opening and will speak about museums, large and small, from his wide experience as Chair of the South West Heritage Trust
7 Today’s chief guest is the Duke of Wellington, Arthur Charles Valerian Wellesley, the 9th Duke of Wellington who will perform the ceremony to mark the newly refurbished Museum. Today he speaks about his admiration for the town of Wellington and the need to remember the past through Museums like Wellington’s.
