A slightly irreverent re-intepretation of the traditional Nativity story for modern times and the local context.

It wasn’t the night before Christmas. In fact it was just some random day – that Maggie has chosen for the auditions of her traditional nativity play at the Wiveliscombe Community Centre. She was prepared to make some minor changes but she hadn’t counted on a take over by Alfred the vegan or the third cousin of Meryl Streep. Nor had she foreseen the elves in a manger whose love of tinsel was only outdone by their love of ginger biscuits. Would Mary and Joseph arrive in Bethlehem on a donkey or would they arrive in Wivvy in a broken down car? Was Maggie going to break down too.? Follow that shining star.
